Well, isn’t that cute? It’s Momonga Pinball Adventures from Paladin Studios. It’s scheduled to be released this summer for Android and iDevices among other planned platforms. According to the website, the beta is coming very soon. Looking at the trailer, I am getting vibes of Adventure Pinball with a dash of Sonic Spinball and Flipnic.
These new pinball simulations are causing me to think about breaking out that copy of Capcom’s Flipnic that I haven’t played in a while. Do you remember Flipnic for the PlayStation 2? I agree with about 80% of that game… but that’s another story.
Paladin Studios, an independent game developer from The Netherlands, has announced their new game Momonga Pinball Adventures. The game takes a break from traditional pinball cabinets: It has levels, boss fights and a storyline typically found in action-adventure games. The game is self-funded, and will be self-published as well.
Momonga is set to be released in Spring 2012, coming first to iOS and Android.
Momonga Pinball Adventures is a crossover between a pinball game and an action-adventure game. You hit a ball with flippers, but that’s where the pinball comparison ends. The studio avoided the typical look-and-feel of pinball games and instead created a colorful world suitable for a platformer.
Derk de Geus, co-founder of Paladin says: “We love pinball, but hate the fact that pinball games are all so… cabinet-ish. Who needs another table with the same bells and whistles? It’s time for something new.”
The game features:
Beautiful handcrafted levels
Crisp pinball physics
A solid storyline
Fully animated characters
Old-fashioned boss fights
Seamless Facebook integration
It also includes Challenges, Achievements, Friend-based High Scores, Game Center, and Pink Butterflies.
A Little Momonga Takes On The Forces Of Evil
The hero of the game is Momo, a small momonga (a Japanese Flying Squirrel which is too cute to be true). A band of evil owls have attacked his humble village, and have taken all of the momongas prisoner. Momo is heavily injured and barely survives the attack. Left for dead, a panda saves the little squirrel and takes care of him. He trains our hero and teaches him how to defeat the leader of the owl bandits, General Kuton.
So there you are. Barely back on your feet again. All your friends have been kidnapped.
It’s pinball time.
Momonga Pinball Adventures is scheduled for launch Spring 2012. The game will be available for iOS and Android at launch, both for phones and tablets. Other platforms are in the works.
