Pinball Jen produced a video about The Amazing Pinball Race, a tournament with an entirely different kind of stress, not necessarily more or less stress, but different. The race is held at the Tilt Amusements pinball barn this May 23rd – 25th. The premise is simple. After a standard qualification period, the top X players advance to the race final. Finishing high in the qualification round can earn you a bye in the race. That’s like getting a head start by skipping several checkpoints before the race begins.
With each game played functioning as a checkpoint, the concept is … DON’T BE LAST! When your turn arrives, score more than the current lowest mark so that you are not the one on the chopping block, sweating out games from the remaining players.
Whatever you do, try to play as normal and as comfortable a game as you usually do, and NEVER think, “all I have to do is get (insert score here)”.
