… when I’m around people who are having a rough time, I FEEL that. I want to be a supportive and empathetic friend, but I often let that also affect how I play. I don’t want to appear robotic, but in a competition, I need to learn to better take care of the needs of myself than the needs of others. Unless we’re on the same team in which case I’m going to work hard to make my teammate feel better. But I can’t afford to let my empathy take over and distract me from playing.
