We had “The Rumble in the Jungle” and “The Thrilla in Manila.” Now we have “The Match at District 82.”
Shout out to my friend, Gilbert, who came up with a better moniker, “The Dawg Fight at District 82.”
Ultimately I’m going with “The Dog Fight at De Pere” since De Pere in the city where this bout took place. Plus De Pere sounds like “The Pier”, and The Dog Fight at “The Pier” also sounds like a place where some serious stuff would go down and beefs would be settled. Although, I’m confident in saying there is no beef between these two Gladiators of The Silverball since Jason and Eric are good friends. I’ll wager they might have had breakfast together the morning before this epic battle began.
In the future, many will misremember this match as the Grand Final. It was only the Quarter Final round! Before this match concluded, Multiple Time World Pinball Champion Daniele Celestino Acciari had already fought his way through the other side of the bracket to clinch his seat in the Grand Final. There, he waited for his eventual opponent at the top of the mountain.
Colin MacAlpine and I are at the commentators’ desk with Tom Graf, Producer of Fox Cities Pinball Livestream. Thanks to all those who joined us in chat to view this 4-hour, 9 game series.
