AAARPinball has created PinBetween, a site where you make a snap judgement between two random pinball games to play. These pinball “would you rathers” can be from any game manufactured from 1990 to the present, or you can filter them by era.
As soon as you visit the site, you will see the backglasses of two pinball games. It’s simple, select the one you would rather play. Don’t take too long! You only have about 15 seconds to decide. If you time out, that versus battle is ruled as a tie, and the site waits for you to click again when you are ready. When you do, you’ll get a different battle between two games… and another one … and another one.
When you have had your fill of decision dopamine, go to the rankings to see every game that has had at least one battle. They are all ranked with updates refreshing every day. Each game also shows a live update that reveals where it ranked before, and if it has risen or dropped since the last update. For example: If Monster Bash is shown as Ranked #10 but the live update reports “Gaining 5 positions to #5”, that means the next rankings will show it at #5 along with another live update since that refresh.
At the top of the rankings, you’ll see a list of highlights that show notable gains and losses as well as spot struggles. Predictably, Attack from Mars and Medieval Madness are in a spot struggle for the #1 spot (GO! ATTACK FROM MARS! GO!) Even better, you can see a day-by-day history with trend lines to track how each game has fared since May 4th 2026, which I presume is the day the PinBetween rankings system started.
I wonder if they are working on an embeddable version of this system. I could see it fitting quite well as a website widget on the side of some pinball websites (like mine!). How about a quick phone app that we could launch while we are waiting to play our next game. For now, I’ll make link to PinBetween on my global menu up top (those three lines up there). I hope to see even more games added from before 1990. There are some Classic Stern slobberknockers and Gottlieb grudge matches that I want to see get hashed out by this system.
