- Me in my element. Well, *one* of them anyway.

“My first game” is an experiment where I try to avoid as many spoilers or marketing material as I can, when a manufacturer releases a new pinball game, before I get to play it myself. I am attempting to put myself in the shoes of a New Player, while not suppressing my pinball skill set. I want to see how well the game teaches me how to play it on its own, without the help of the theme to support it. Also, no looking at the instruction card for help either. Just a quick lookover of the playfield before I start, then plunge and play.

If I were doing a full-on test of a game I am working on such as what I had done for RAZA, Legends of Valhalla, Galactic Tank Force, and Barry O’s Barbecue Challenge, then I would attempt to nerf my pinball skills to emulate a New Player experience. For example, going for the bash target most of the time if there is one to hit, or sending a ball away as soon as it touches a flipper. However, since the new game is usually at a pinball show with many people waiting to play, I may not get another chance to play it. When I get my shot, I am hoping to find a multiball or two in order to artificially extend my game time.
With that said, here are “My First Games” at Texas Pinball Festival.
