Chairror (Chair’ – rer)

• Making a gameplay mistake (error) involving the Electric Chair from The Addams Family game, especially if it causes the player to lose the ball

  Noted by Jay Steinberg at the Jersey Pinball Association League

  • This can also be applied in limited form to Sparky’s Electric Chair from Metallica pinball.

  Examples of Chairrors in The Addams Family:

  • Simply missing the Electric Chair shot repeatedly.
  • A miss of the Electric Chair shot that causes the ball to go directly off a rubber and head straight down the middle or an outlane at high speed.
  • Trying to shoot the Electric Chair from the left flipper without cradling the ball first.
  • Trying to shoot the Electric Chair shot from the right flipper especially when there is a Cliffy protector and large rubbers are guarding it.

  Example of a Chairror in Metallica:

  • Attempting to bail out by shooting Sparky’s Electric Chair shot only to have it thrown out of control and out of play by the magnet.
