Me in my element. Well, *one* of them anyway.
I had the privilege of playing a live tutorial of Pokémon by Stern Pinball, with Software Developer Tanio Klyce and Game Designer Jack Danger, in front of an audience at Texas Pinball Festival. I was WAY less nervous for this than I have been when standing at Finals in front of a pinball game, competing for advancement to the next round. While Tanio and Jack were representing Stern, I was an independent representative of … well … myself. So, like the seminar attendees, I wanted to know what updates were being planned for this game.
We had a few lively rounds where I showed some opening strategies and flipper techniques, along with describing the action when Tanio or Jack played. I was glad I had good enough games where I could even show how large the window is to hit the center button for an Add-A-Ball when you drain down to one ball. The time we had for the session went by very quickly. Before I knew it we were finished and answering questions.
That marks two consecutive Texas Pinball Festivals where I’ve done a tutorial with Stern Pinball (For TPF 2025 I did an Uncanny X-Men Tutorial with Game Developer Mike Vinikour).
